July 13, 2023: The Delhi Metro’s newly launched ticket booking app has crossed over 1.7 lakh downloads, the service provider said in a tweet on July 11.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) launched its mobile-based QR-code ticketing app DMRC Travel on June 30 this year. Prior to that the mobile-based ticket facility was available only for the Delhi Metro Airport Line, also known as the Orange Line.
With this new mobile app, passengers can now purchase tickets directly from their smartphones, eliminating the need to go to ticket counters/vending machines or stand in queues. The passengers can now experience a quick and efficient ticketing process, saving valuable time during their commute.
The app supports a variety of payment methods, including UPI, credit/debit cards and wallets, ensuring flexibility and convenience for users. Passengers can choose their preferred payment option and easily complete the transaction within the app itself.
“A big thanks to the commuters who have made our journey incredible! We are thrilled to announce that the DMRC travel app has crossed 1.75 lakh downloads,” the DMRC tweeted.
The response shows people are using technology to book tickets for the metro,” a Delhi Metro official told news agency PTI. About 70% of commuters on the Delhi Metro use metro smart cards for travelling on the network. The remaining passengers use tokens and now the new app, the official added.
