Empress Garden Pune was first known as Soldiers’ Garden and was built by the British during their control over India. After Queen Victoria’s golden centennial celebrations in 1887, the area was named Empress Garden.
A variety of exotic plants and trees are found in this 39-acre garden. The garden also features a sizable collection of herbs, spices and medicinal plants from tropical and subtropical regions.
A greenhouse, a Japanese garden, an orchid garden and a children’s park are also located in the Empress Garden.Additionally, it features a sizable pond with different types of fish and aquatic vegetation. The garden is ideal for family vacations and picnics, and throughout the year, it serves as a setting for a variety of cultural events and exhibitions.
