The Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has shared tip tips with EPF subscribers to steer clear of loss cyber fraud. On its official website, the pension fund body has issued an advisory, asking EPF members to “be vigilant against credential theft/loss that may lead to cyber frauds”.
EPFO tips to avoid cyber fraud
- Install a licensed anti-virus/anti-malware on your system computer, laptop, and smartphone.
- Keep your system updated and patched.
- Maintain a complex password.
- Do not share your password.
- Create your permanent login ID and password after the first login.
- In case you have forgotten the password or login ID, use the Forgot Password link to get it through SMS on your registered mobile number.
- In case your account is locked due to repeated use of the wrong password, use the Unlock account link.
Other UAN password resetting tips
- Your UAN password should be a combination of letters, digits and special characters.
- It must have at least 8 digits.
- Your password should not have more than 25 characters.
- The password should also have at least one special character.
- Some of the letters in the password must be in upper case and some in lower case.
- Don’t use easy-to-crack passwords for your UAN login.
- Don’t use a common password.
