The new Chandigarh Bird Park, which is situated in the ‘Green City’ of Chandigarh, officially opened its doors to the public on November 16, 2021. The 6.5-acre park is under the management of the Department of Forest and Wildlife, UT, and is designed to help endangered bird species and raise awareness about nature conservation. 

With Singapore’s Jurong Bird Park as its inspiration, the park hosts the nation’s tallest aviary, which stands at 58 feet and has space for 550 exotic birds of 48 different species, including the Black Swans, Green Wing Macaws, Blue Gold Macaws and Ducorps Cockatoos.

It is located behind Sukhna Lake, making it a convenient stop for tourists to enjoy both attractions.  Chandigarh Bird Park is all about taking care of nature and birds, inviting everyone to enjoy their beauty in India.

By Air

Tourists can easily access Chandigarh via Chandigarh International Airport, 12 km from the city centre. From the airport, taxis or hired cars, readily available, offer a direct route to Chandigarh Bird Park. Local stands like the Sector 17 bus stand provide additional convenient routes for visitors.

 

By Train

The primary railway station is Chandigarh Junction, which links the city with different parts of the country. On this route, there are significant trains like Shatabdi Express and Himalayan Queen. The railway station is in the centre of the city. The distance from Chandigarh Junction to Chandigarh Bird Park is about 6.7 km via Vigyan Path, accessible by local transportation.

 

By Road

Chandigarh, accessible via NH44 and NH22, is well-linked by buses and taxis. To reach Chandigarh Bird Park, visitors can use local transport within Chandigarh. Sector 17 bus stand is a central point heading to Sector 1, where the bird park is located.
