January 3, 2024: Union road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari will lay the foundation stone of the 93.2-kilometre Kanpur Ring Road project on January 8, 2024, according to a TOI report. The project is being developed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
The report mentioned that the NHAI officials swung into preparations on a war footing after receiving information from the ministry. It also stated that the union minister’s personal assistant had informed through email that Nitin Gadkari would attend the inauguration and foundation stone laying ceremony in Rae Bareli, Kanpur and Unnao on January 8, 2024. He will first inaugurate the Lalganj-Unnao four-lane highway in Rae Bareli. From there, the union minister will reach Kanpur, where he will lay the foundation stone of the ring road project. He will also inaugurate the Kanpur-Aligarh GT road, a four-lane road, and the Chakeri-Prayagraj six-lane road.
From there, the minister will go to Unnao, lay the foundation stone of the Unnao portion of the ring road, and inaugurate the Unnao-Lalganj four-lane road.
Kanpur Ring Road project details
The Kanpur Outer Ring Road is an upcoming six-lane access-controlled highway project in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. It has been developed in four phases and the cost of construction for the project is Rs 5,182 crore.
