July 8, 2024: The land acquisition for the second phase of the Noida International Airport in Jewar has commenced. The Uttar Pradesh government has started taking physical possession of the required land. This phase includes plans for a maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) hub, as well as an aviation hub.
The total cost for acquiring land for this phase is estimated to be around Rs 4,898 crore. Approximately 1,365 acre will be acquired, with 1,181.3 hectare coming from the villages of Karauli Bangar, Dayanatpur, Kuraib, Ranhera, Mudharh and Beerampur. The remaining land is government-owned. To date, the administration has taken possession of 237 hectare in Beerampur, Dayanatpur and Mudharh, with efforts to acquire land in the other villages ongoing. The distribution of compensation is nearing completion.
The Uttar Pradesh government issued a notification on November 18, 2022, to acquire land for this second phase, with compensation distribution starting in July 2023. The resettlement and rehabilitation process is underway to relocate farmers from the three villages where land has been acquired. Around 13,000 families affected by the acquisition will be resettled in Falaida Bangar and Moladpur, requiring 212 hectare of land. Farmers from Ranhera, Kuraib, and Karauli Bangar will be completely displaced.
