Labour and employment minister Bhupender Yadav launched new features on the eShram portal on April 24, 2023. These features include a significant module to capture the family details of migrant workers to help the government extend child education and women-centric schemes to such families.
The eShram portal will now help all registered workers to avail of employment opportunities, skilling, apprenticeship, pension scheme, digital skilling and states’ schemes, an official statement said.
An additional feature will also enable sharing of data of construction workers registered on the eShram portal with the building and other construction workers’ welfare boards concerned. This will help ensure that such workers gain access to all schemes under the board.
The data-sharing portal for sharing of eShram data with states was also formally launched. This will allow the secured sharing of data of eShram beneficiaries with their respective states for targeted implementation of social security/welfare schemes for unorganised workers.
The Ministry had recently initiated mapping of different schemes data with eShram data to identify the registrants who were yet to receive the benefits of such schemes.
This data will further enable the states/UTs to prioritise such unorganised workers.
The eShram portal was launched on August 26, 2021, with the purpose of creating a comprehensive national database of unorganised workers seeded with Aadhaar, and has over 28.87 crore registered unorganised workers as on April 21, 2023.
