Govt sanctions over Rs 438 cr to construct Giridih Bypass in Jharkhand

The bypass will reduce the travel time from Ranchi to Deoghar.

February 27, 2024: The government has given its approval for the construction of a 2-lane bypass road with paved shoulders around Giridih town on the National Highway-114 at a cost of Rs 438.34 crore.

In a post on microblogging site X today, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari said the proposed Giridih Bypass will reduce the travel time from Ranchi to Deoghar. Also, construction of a bypass road around Giridih city will lead to socio-economic development of the area.

Carved out from Hazaribagh District in 1972, Giridih is bounded by Jamui and part of Nawada in the north and Deoghar and Jamtara on the east. The city lies 183 km from the capital city Ranchi. The travel time by road between the cities is four-and-a-half hours.
