In India, people organise important events, such as weddings, the purchase of a new property or Griha Pravesh, on auspicious dates by referring to a Hindu calendar or Panchang. According to Vastu Shastra, performing a Griha Pravesh puja purifies the house and brings happiness, good health and prosperity to the family. In the Telugu community, the auspicious dates for the Griha Pravesh or Gruhapravesam Muhurtham are chosen by referring to a Telugu Panchangam. In this guide, we share the auspicious dates for Gruhapravesam as per the Telugu calendar.
Gruhapravesam Muhurtham: Telugu Panchang
Griha Pravesham refers to the first entry into a new house, done at an auspicious time and date. On this day, Griha Pravesh puja is organised by worshipping the deities and seeking their blessings. According to Vastu, performing puja and chanting mantras cleanses the environment and purifies the house. If planning to move into a newly purchased or rented house, one should refer to the Telugu Panchangam. However, the Griha Pravesham dates in a Telugu Panchangam may differ from the Griha Pravesh dates in a Hindu calendar.
A Griha Pravesh ceremony is of three types:
- Apoorva Griha Pravesh: When entering a new home
- Sapoorva Griha Pravesh: When re-entering a home after a long period
- Dwandhav Griha Pravesh: If one left their home due to a natural calamity and is re-entering after a long time
