The Union Cabinet, on June 7, 2023, approved the extension of the metro network from Delhi Metro’s HUDA City Centre (Millenium City Centre) to Cyber City in Gurgaon. The main corridor, from HUDA City Centre (Millenium City Centre) to Cyber City, will cover 26.65 kilometre (km) and have 26 stations, while the spur or extension would connect from Basai Village to Dwarka Expressway, a 1.85-km with one station, according to an official statement.

Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced this on May 31, 2023 during a comprehensive review of development projects worth Rs 37,927 crore across the state, including several key initiatives in Gurgaon and Faridabad.
Khattar emphasised the transformative impact of development projects and said over Rs 2,000 crore has been earmarked for development endeavours in Gurgaon and Faridabad. He further asked officials to expedite construction work on ongoing projects and ensure continuous monitoring, according to a statement by the state government.
He also highlighted the accelerated progress of metro connectivity between Rezang La Chowk and Sector 21 in Dwarka, and the regional rapid rail links from Delhi to Behrore and Delhi to Panipat.
In February 2023, the chief minister had announced that work on the Gurgaon metro project would commence in this financial year, as it is expected to receive approval from the Union cabinet soon.

December 3, 2025: The Haryana Government has approved the land acquisition policy for Gurugram Metro, which will enable the GMRL to acquire private land forthe construction of tracks and metro stations. The policy considers the fact that a significant portion of the Gurgaon metro alignment passes through government land but there are some private properties that need to be acquired.
Gurgaon Metro starts work on first pillar
December 3, 2025: GMRL officials and the contractor’s team have initiated work on the first pillar around 4.30 pm. The work involves the construction of a metro track near the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) office in Sector 44.
Four piles will be cast underground to support one metro pillar, with each pile taking 18 hours to be constructed, according to Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) officials as per an HT report. Over 900 pillars will be built on the 15-kilometre track in the first phase, starting from the originating station to sector 9, GMRL director SR Sangwa said as cited in the report.
November 11, 2025: The Gurgaon Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) has started the preparatory work at the Millennium City Centre junction, marking the start of construction for the new metro station under Phase 1. The metro station will serve as a key junction providing connectivity to neighbouring localities such as Golf Course Road, Subhash Chowk and Signature Tower. Due to the ongoing construction work, authorities are coming up with traffic diversion plans for the area, to ensure smooth vehicular movement in the city.
GMRL approves spur line linking new metro line and Gurgaon Railway station
October 16, 2025: The Gurgaon Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) has approved a 1.8-km metro spur connecting the Gurgaon Railway Station with the upcoming metro line. The line will branch out from Sector 5 and directly connect to Gurgaon Railway Station. The project will have an estimated cost of Rs 454 crore. The move aims to benefit commuters from both new and old city by providing them with direct access to the railway station. A supplementary detailed project report (DPR) will be submitted.
Further, GMRL has approved the procurement of 24 additional metro coaches, taking the total number to 84.

Gurgaon Metro project construction details
The proposed Gurgaon Metro project will cover 28.5 km, comprising 27 elevated metro stations, with a section from Basai village to Dwarka Expressway. The project will be developed at an estimated Rs 5,452 crore.
The metro project in Gurgaon will be developed in two phases:
- Phase 1: This will involve the construction of a section from Millennium City Centre, which is also connected to Delhi Metro Yellow Line, to Sector 101.The corridor will span 15.3 km distance and comprise 14 metro station. A 1.8-km spur to Dwarka Expressway is part of the plan. The phase 1 of Gurgaon Metro corridor will connect prominent sectors with Sector 33 depot.
- Phase 2: In the second phase, a metro line linking Sector 9 with Cyber Hub will be developed. As per reports, GMRL has been directed to look into the possibility of developing an underground route for this metro corridor, since the region is densely populated and has narrow roads. According to the current plan, all the metro stations are elevated and the corridor will move along the central verge of Neki Ram Marg, connecting with Sector 4, 5 and Palam Vihar.
The Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation Limited (HMRTC) is the implementing agency for the project, which is expected to be completed in four years from the date of sanction.
According to the tender document, the main metro line from Huda City Centre to CyberHub, passing through Subash Chowk, Hero Honda Chowk and Palam Vihar, will cover 26.65 km, while the section from Basai to Dwarka Expressway will be 1.85 km.
The Haryana government also proposed the construction of a metro link from Palam Vihar to Dwarka Sector 21, for facilitating connectivity between the proposed Gurgaon Metro and the Blue Line of the Delhi Metro in Dwarka.

The corridor will have connectivity with the depot, and it will connect Old Gurgaon with New Gurgaon, along with a link to the Indian Railways. The next phase will connect the network with the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi.
