- Log on to https://edistrict.up.gov.in/edistrictup/ and click on citizen login (e-Sathi).
- Register on the online portal using personal details and contact details. A password is generated and sent through SMS/Email. Using the user id and password applicant shall log into the online portal.
- After logging into the web portal, select “Esathi Integrated Services”
- Select “Encumbrance Certificate” service under Stamp & Registration Department

- Check status: You can see the status of your application- This can be “In Process,” “Approved,” or “Rejected,” will be displayed.
Encumbrance certificate in Uttar Pradesh: Fees
Uttar Pradesh Encumbrance Certificate fees depend on the period for which the encumbrance certificate is required.
- Encumbrance certificate fees for a period of upto 15 years: Rs 200 to Rs 500
- Encumbrance certificate fees for a period of more than 15 years: This increases upwards as the years increase.
- The fee differs from state to state.
- In Uttar Pradesh Rs 15 has to be paid as user charges for checking application of encumbrance certificate details online and submitting it. Note that Rs 100 as service charges to get the EC should also be paid.

- Go to the nearest sub-registrar’s office
- Fill the application for encumbrance certificate and submit it with all required documents.

- Once this is done, the registrar will check the documents and verify the application.
- Once approved after 7 days you can go to the sub registrar office and collect the certificate.
