Registering for IOB Missed Call Balance Check Service

Any Indian Overseas Bank consumer can avail of the IOB missed call balance check service by visiting the bank branch and completing the one-time registration procedure.

Methods for IOB balance check

Since balance inquiry is one of the most significant banking services that account holders require, the bank provides a variety of options to its customers. They are as follows:

IOB balance check through missed call

To check their account balance, IOB users should phone 04442220004 using their registered mobile number. After a few rings, the call is immediately ended, and IOB sends account balance information through SMS. To use this service, it is essential to register your account with your phone number.

Indian Overseas Bank balance check through mobile banking

IOB account users can register for Indian Overseas Bank mobile banking apps such as IOB mPassbook, IOB Mobile, and IOB Nanban using their registered mobile phones. They have been covered briefly here:

  • IOB mPassbook: An online passbook that IOB users can use to view their account balance and transaction details. It contains information on both debit and credit transactions made by an IOB customer. It allows account holders to always know their current account balance, and, unlike a real passbook, they do not have to visit the bank to have it updated.
  • IOB Mobile: IOB clients who are used to doing banking transactions on their mobile phones can utilise this mobile app with ease. IOB Mobile provides banking services such as IOB balance checks, account statements, money transfers, IMPS, NEFT, RTGS, Bill payments, and so on. To utilise this app, customers must be registered for mobile banking.
  • IOB Nanban: Many people wish to use net banking and mobile banking but are unable to do so due to a lack of English proficiency. IOB Nanban, a multilingual app, is a useful option for such IOB customers because it allows them to do financial transactions in the language of their choice.

IOB balance check through net banking

IOB account holders who have registered for net banking can log in using their net banking ID and password. They can use a variety of banking services, such as IOB balance checks, account statements, money transfers, mobile bill payments and so on. To use this service, you must first register for a net banking account.

IOB balance check through USSD code

Customers who do not have internet access or a data bank can use the USSD code to check their IOB balance. This service can be used even without a smartphone. To retrieve your account information, follow these steps:

  • Use a registered mobile number.
  • From the phone’s dialer pad, dial 9952#.
  • Select your preferred language.
  • Enter the IFSC Code (International Financial Services Code) or the two-digit bank code.
  • Select “send” from the drop-down menu.

Indian Overseas Bank balance check through SMS service

Customers of Indian Overseas Bank can check their account balance by texting 8424022122 from their registered cell phones. The SMS must be sent in the format “BAL<Last 4 digits of Account Number>.” The bank delivers account balance information by SMS.

Indian Overseas Bank balance check through ATM

IOB holders can check their balance by visiting an IOB ATM. It is a straightforward process, and all users need to do is swipe their ATM card in the machine, log in with their ATM PIN, and select the “Balance Enquiry” option. They can also use the Mini Statement option to view their latest 10 account transactions. The ATM will produce a receipt with the latest ten account transactions on it. They can also check their account balance at a non-IOB ATM.

IOB balance check through passbook

Customers, who prefer to do their banking offline or who are not registered for net banking, can check their IOB balance by checking their account passbook. Because people carry their passbooks with them at home, it is one of the simplest ways to check account balances.

Customers must, however, ensure that their passbook is frequently updated so that it always represents the current amount and includes a complete record of all transactions carried out by the account holder. This is not a viable alternative for those who do not frequently update their passbooks by visiting the bank or who are travelling and cannot check their passbooks.

IOB balance check through UPI

To check your Indian Overseas Bank balance through this mode, follow these steps:

  • On your smartphone, launch any UPI app.
  • Enter the code you created.
  • Select the account whose balance you want to know.
  • Select Check Balance.
  • Enter the UPI PIN you generated.
  • After entering the UPI PIN, the balance will be displayed on the screen.

Importance of IOB balance check services

Balance inquiries are one of the most common activities that account holders perform for a variety of reasons. They can take advantage of the Indian Overseas Bank balance check service for the following reasons:

  • Before transferring money to someone, they can check that they have a sufficient amount in their account.
  • To see if they received the funds due.
  • To ensure that the cheque they provided was cleared and the funds were credited to their account.
  • To determine whether the sum reported in their account is close to what they expected. If not, they can review their account statement to ensure that no unauthorised transactions have been made from their account.
