Come the months of August and September, also known as the Hindu month Bhadrapada, and we start with the preparations of welcoming lord Ganesh for Ganesh Chaturthi. This festival which falls on the fourth day of the waxing moon period celebrates the birthday of Lord Ganesh (and so the name Chaturthi).

People can do a Ganesh puja at home or get his idol, do puja and finally immerse the idol going forward. Ganesh stapana can be done for one and half days, three days, five days, seven days or ten days, after which the idol is in water.

Eco-friendly visarajan

While festivals bring cheer with them, they also bring along pollution- noise and environment pollution.   We should be responsible towards our environment and do whatever is possible of us to prevent this pollution. One of the ways is to follow eco-friendly visarjan.

  • Opt for Ganpati made of eco-friendly materials that can easily dissolve when you do visarjan.
  • Opt for community Visarjan.
  • Do Visarajan of your Ganpati murthi and once it dissolves , throw the mud-water in your garden or building’s garden.
