MCD birth certificate: Where can you apply for an MCD birth certificate?

A birth certificate is a mandatory document in India according to the Registration of Births & Deaths Act of 1969, which states that every birth with the concerned State/UT Government shall be registered in the eyes of the government within 21 days of its occurrence. This document is provided by many hospitals in Delhi or can be found with the municipal corporation of the area. These days, you can also apply for your MCD birth certificate online.

MCD birth certificate: How to apply?

You are eligible for an MCD birth certificate if:

Your mother or father has their birthplace in Delhi.
The parents have valid ID proof, such as an Aadhar card that proves their place of residence as Delhi.
The child is born in a government or private hospital in Delhi or any other state in India.

If you wish to apply for your MCD birth certificate through the municipal corporation office, you can do so by visiting the Municipal Corporation Office of your area with the following important documents:

Hospital-provided registration slip.
Hospital discharge paper.
Any government identification of both parents like Aadhaar, Voter’s ID, etc.
An affidavit of the child’s name in the Municipal Corporation.

Once you have all these documents handy, just visit the municipal corporation office of your area and fill out any applications as instructed.

If you wish to apply for your MCD birth certificate online, you have to follow these steps:

Visit the official website for the MCD.
Select your zone of the MCD between the North zone, the South zone and the East zone.
Click on the “online services” button under your selected zone.
Now, click on the option that appears on your screen as “Registration of Birth and Death”.
Next, select the “Citizen Login” option.
To log in, you have to enter your registered mobile number and generate the OTP.
In case you are a new user, you will have to instead click on the “New User Registration” link below and create an account on the website.
Once your new interface opens, scroll to the bottom to find the option of “Birth Registration” and click on it.
Next, you will have to fill out the birth registration form with all the required details carefully.
Upload the required documents as stated by the instructions on the page.
Click on the “Submit” button only once all of the information has been filled out correctly.

Now, you can expect to get your birth certificate in the mail within 21 days of submission. If not received, you can visit the nearest municipal corporation office to collect the same.

To search for your MCD birth certificate online, you can follow these steps:

Visit the official website for the MCD.
Select your zone of the MCD between the North zone, the South zone and the East zone.
Click on the “Online Services” button under your selected zone.
Now, click on the option that appears on your screen as “Registration of Birth and Death”.
Next, select the “Citizen Login” option.
To log in, you have to enter your registered mobile number and generate the OTP.
In case you are a new user, you will have to instead click on the “New User Registration” link below and create an account on the website.
Once your new interface opens, scroll to the bottom to find the option of “Certificate Search” and click on it.
Fill out the necessary information and proceed.
Once the search is complete, to download the certificate, select the file and add your name and address in the specified boxes.
Make the required payment of INR 21 and proceed to download the file.
Once downloaded, this copy of the birth certificate can be used at any time.
