Steps to move a washing machine
- Keep a hand truck, bucket, and packaging tape ready for moving the washing machine.
- Clear the area where the washing machine is placed so that while moving it nothing comes in your way. This is important as washing machines are heavy, weighing around 50 kg to 60 kg.
- Remove clothes from the washing machine and dry it. If there is water inside the machine, drain it completely.
- Before changing the position of the washing machine, always cut the power source. Disconnect the pipe that connects the washing machine to the water source. Next, secure the power source wire neatly with a rope and do the same with the washing machine hose. With a packaging tape, stick these on the sides of the washing machine so that they don’t entangle, or come in the way.
- Next, there is a suspension system in the washing machine that allows easy movement of the drummer and aids in effective washing. However, this can be damaged if it moves continuously when shifted. Safeguard the suspension system by securing the drummer using transit bolts. You can also put thermocol sheets inside the drummer, so that it doesn’t move.
- Wrap the machine with blankets, or air bubble papers and fasten with the packaging tape and load the washing machine on the hand truck using a ramp. Fasten the machine with a rope to the hand truck and move it to its new location.
