On September 1, 2016, Kota Electricity Distribution Limited (KEDL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of CESC Limited, started its Electricity Distribution Operation in the city. It is a distribution franchisee of Jaipur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited.
The Kota Distribution Franchisee stretches throughout an area of more than one hundred and fifty thousand square kilometres and serves more than two million registered customers.

Steps to pay bill on KEDL portal
- Go to the official KEDL portal.
- Click on the “Quick Pay” section on the homepage.
- You will see two options to pay bills.
- Electricity Bill Payments
- Other Payments
- Click on “Electricity Bill Payments”
- A new page will open with a list of payment options.
- Enter your K number and fill in the captcha before clicking the submit button.
- After you’ve double-checked your information, click the “Pay Now” option to confirm your payment information and begin the process.
- You will then be sent to the payment page.
- After all payment processing is completed, the Payment Acknowledgement will show on the screen.
- By choosing the option to print a tangible copy of the payment confirmation,
- There is a print option on the menu.
- You will be able to properly pay your bill online if you follow these procedures.
Steps to apply for new connection on KEDL Portal
- Go to the official KEDL portal.
- Click on “Register With Us” section on the homepage.
- Select the provider based on your region. In this case, click continue on “Kota Electricity Distribution Limited”.
- Enter all the details carefully, such as your account information and personal information, to successfully register on the KEDL portal.
Documents to apply for new KEDL connection
To submit an application for a connection, you will need a current picture of yourself, a scanned copy of your identity document, and a document that verifies your residence.
Verification of Individual – Any of the following (Aadhar Card, Voter ID Ration Card, Driving Licence Passport, PAN Card, Below Poverty Line Card ID Card Issued by Government)
Proof of address- Any of the following(Aadhaar Card, Voter ID Ration Card, Driving Licence Passport, Landline Connection, Gas Connection Card, ID Card Issued by Government)
The following additional documents must be submitted, where applicable:
Ownership/ tenant/occupant of premises documentation
- Owner: Title Deed (Registry), The certificate issued by Revenue officials in rural regions, Mortgage deed, Patta, Sale deed, Allotment letter.
- Tenant – Landlord’s permission, In Rs.50/- Stamp Paper, Stamped indemnity bond of Rs.100/-
- Occupier- Stamped indemnity bond of Rs 100/-
- The location of the premises, metering equipment, etc. is shown on the site map.
- Bank Information – Photocopy of Passbook with Account Information.
- If the connection is sought in RHB colonies, the Rajasthan Housing Board must provide a No Objection Certificate (NOC).
- If the connection is to be released on HT or EHT supply, the customer must install the transformer and get an authorisation document from the Electrical Inspectorate (may even be furnished later on but before the release of connection).
