The Telangana government is in discussions with various financial institutions and banks, to raise Rs 20,146 crores for various schemes related to water, drainage, roads and lighting, to give a facelift to Hyderabad and make it a global city, said an official release.
“The government aims to spend Rs 8,225 crores on a double-bedroom housing scheme, Rs 6,700 crores on roads, Rs 2,926 crores on Mission Bhagiratha (a drinking water scheme), Rs 1,665 crores for Musi river development, Rs 400 crores on LED lights and Rs 230 crores for improving the drainage system,” the release said.

Development works to the extent of Rs 10,000 crores have already started, it said. Detailed project reports are being prepared for many of the projects, the release added.
Meanwhile, in a statement, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) said that the Ministry of Tourism has informed that the civic body has been selected for the National Tourism Awards. The GHMC has received the award under the category of ‘Best Civic Management of Tourist Destination’, it said.
