Jaipur master plan 2025: Policy zones

The core urban zone, U1, serves as the central point for development activities. U2, which surrounds U1, is intended to accommodate additional developments and special projects. U3 extends from U1 and U2 along significant routes like national highways, state highways, ring roads, industrial corridors, and other major transportation corridors. The ecological zone is designated for preserving ecological features such as rivers, ponds, protected forests, hills, and the associated flora and fauna. It is divided into two zones: G1 and G2. The rural area is the region that is not included in the urbanisable areas (U1, U2, U3) and the ecological zone. It represents the non-urbanised, rural regions of Jaipur.

Steps taken by the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) to ensure the city’s future development.

Transportation

JDA plans to establish five bus terminals around Jaipur strategically to enhance transportation. These locations include south of Niwaru Road and Kalwar Road on the outskirts, near the extended Sirsi Road close to Nimera, south of the Delhi railway line near Khatipura Railway Station, and at the intersection of Jawahar Nagar bypass and Shanti Path. The public transportation system will be improved by introducing the metro (MRTS) and bus rapid transit system (BRTS).

Ring road

The Ring Road project is a significant project aimed at reducing traffic congestion and improving connectivity. The project includes constructing a 360-degree corridor with an expressway, service roads, and public transportation routes.

Ghat Ki Guni Tunnel

Ghat Ki Guni is a significant entry and exit point in the eastern part of Jaipur, famous for its historical buildings. Unfortunately, it is plagued by traffic congestion pollution and is highly susceptible to accidents. In order to protect the heritage structures and tackle these issues, a tunnel project has been launched.

Satellite towns/Growth centres

To balance regional development, the authority has created a master plan for 11 satellite towns and four growth centres in the Jaipur region.
