Kannada film actor and director H Anand, popularly known as Master Anand, has filed a police complaint against the owner of a real estate firm and his personal assistant. In his complaint, he has accused the realtor of defrauding him of Rs 18.5 lakh. The actor filed the complaint on June 23, 2023, at the Chandra Layout police station, naming Sudheer S, the owner of Multi Leap Ventures, and his personal assistant, Manika K M.
According to his police complaint, Anand had gone to the Ramasandra village for a shoot and came across a gated community in Kommaghatta, Kengeri, that impressed him. Anand noticed empty sites with ‘for sale’ notices, and visited Multi Leap Ventures’s marketing office. In response to his inquiries, Sudheer and Manika provided him with detailed information about the project and explained various offers, he told the police.
When Anand left to think it through and make a decision, Sudheer and Manika kept on contacting him, luring him with attractive loan schemes, he said. Tempted by the offer, the actor agreed to buy a plot in the gated community in question. After negotiations, a deal was finalised at Rs 70 lakh, and a sale agreement was executed, he told the police.
Between the months of September and November in 2020, Anand transferred Rs 18.5 lakh in four instalments, waiting for Sudheer to facilitate a loan for the remaining payment, as specified in their agreement. However, Anand alleged that Sudheer failed to secure the loan and started avoiding him. Anand later discovered that the plot he had paid for had been sold to someone else, and Sudheer allegedly refused to return the money.
The police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Banning of Unregulated Deposit Schemes Act, 2019, and have also launched an investigation.
