September 4, 2024: The approval process for building construction in the Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) limits has been made seamless with the launch of the ‘Nambike Nakshe’ scheme. Karnataka deputy chief minister D K Shivakumar launched the scheme on September 2, 2024.
Owners can get a provisional building plan approved by an authorised architect or engineer and upload it online for a final approval by the BBMP. This is applicable for constructions on sites upto 50×80 sqft.
With this online approval in place, owners start off with their construction once they get the provisional certificate and begin construction. The site will be later inspected by the BBMP engineers.
While initially the pilot of the Nambike Nakshe scheme was rolled out in two zones of BBMP, it is now made available in all of BBMP limits.
In July 2024, the Tamil Nadu government had launched a single window permission system in which people could construct small residential buildings in a plot of upto 2,500 sqft and a built-up area of 3,500 sqft by getting the permission under self-certification scheme immediately.
