Essential Lakshmi Pujan Samagri
Idols of Ganpati, Lakshmi and Saraswati: They are the gods worshipped on Lakshmi Pujan.
Clothes for Ganpati, Lakshmi and Saraswati: New clothes are offered to God Ganpati, Goddess Lakshmi, and Saraswati.
Oil diyas: Oil diyas are one of the most important things for the Lakshmi Pujan. The diyas depict the end of darkness and the dawn of light. It shows the victory of the good over the evil. The diyas are made of clay. While some diyas may retain their clay texture, there are some painted and look pretty. These diyas are used for the Lakshmi Pujan and decoration.
Agarbatti: These fill the place of worship with fragrance and create a positive environment. It is believed that gods are pleased with fragrance and shower blessings.
Sandalwood paste and Chandan powder: These are applied for purification.
Roli and rice: Roli is the sindoor applied on the forehead of deities. Rice grains are used as Akshath and showered as blessings.
Flowers: Flowers, especially marigold, rose, and lotus are used for the Lakshmi Pujan.
Sweets and fruits: These are offered to the god during the puja and distributed as prasad later.
Holy water (Gangajal): Gangajal, water from the holy river Ganga, is sprinkled everywhere to purify the environment.
Coconut: While the hard outer shell of coconut represents the ego, the inner fruit stands for kindness and purity. Coconuts are offered to the god to show that the ego has gone.
Coins: Coins are an important element of the Lakshmi Pujan and represents wealth and prosperity. By keeping coins, one prays for financial stability.
Camphor: Camphor is used to conclude the puja.
Saffron: It purifies the environment.
Betel leaves and supari: These are considered auspicious and offered to the god.
Tulsi: These are considered auspicious and part of the naivedyam.
