Tougher than the rest: ZZ Plant

This African native that goes by the botanical handle Zamioculcas Zamiifolia, can thrive in low-light and drought-prone conditions. It is hard to match the hardiness of this ornamental plant that has air-purifying properties.

 

 

All-purpose Aloe Vera

There is just so much this magical plant can do. Aside from turning your home green, Aloe Vera can also help you improve your own health and being significantly. With its proven medicinal properties, the gel-like produce of this plant is being widely used for a variety of purposes ─ from skin cleaning to weight loss. The best part, the plant needs only irregular watering (once a week) and bright sunlight to stay alive and healthy.

Those whose focus is also on beautification must invest in this elegant, suave houseplant that can light up any space. It needs bright light. So be mindful of placing it at a windowsill that gets a good deal of indirect sunlight.

 

The showy Prayer Plant

Since large plants can be imposing for such a person, a tiny houseplant like this one works as a great starter.  Also called Zebra Cactus and Cushion Aloe, this slow-growing succulent plant requires bright light but not all-day full sun. You must water it only when the top inch of soil dries out.

 

The lucky charm: Rubber Plant

Aside from its many qualities, this popular indoor houseplant is also Vaastu-and-Feng Shui-recommended. A representative of wealth and fortune, the Rubber Plant also absorbs contaminants and purifies indoor air. All it needs in return is a spot that receives indirect sunlight. The healer Snake Plant

Believed to promote mental health, this showy plant more commonly goes by the handle, Mother-in-Law’s Tongue. This succulent with long, tough, pointed green leaves with golden yellow edges is a highly popular house plant. For this simple reason Snake plants can survive in any space with low lights and bring good luck. Allow the soil to dry between waterings, and you are set.

 

The look-alike: Lucky Bamboo

Don’t be misled by the name of the appearance. Dracaena sanderiana, which goes by the names Chinese Water Bamboo, Friendship Bamboo, Lucky Bamboo, Ribbon Plant and Water Bamboo, boasts bright green or gray-green strappy leaves, widely spaced along the upright stems. Your plant will thrive with bright but indirect light indoors.  It needs moist soil. It can also be grown in chlorine-free water. Water every week or change it, depending on where you are growing it.

 

The cleaner: Peperomia

Peperomia (Peperomia argyreia) is a leafy plant that belongs to the plant family Piperaceae. Many species of Peperomia, all with their clean-air properties and effectiveness at removing common household toxins from the air, have attractive foliage with glossy leaves of various shapes and sizes. The plant does well in medium-to-bright indirect light and should be protected from direct sunlight. Allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Mind the overwatering.

 

The money maker: Chinese Money Plant

This remarkably low-maintenance houseplant is super-cute, look-wise. Also known as the Pancake Plant or Coin Plant, it prefers indirect sunlight. Let the top inch of the soil dry out before watering. Watering once a week is sufficient.

Desert Cabbage

Add colour and more dimension to your indoors with this showy plant. While does require some love and care, it would do well with bare minimum amounts of it. Whatever work you would do, it would all seem worth it when this colourful plant keeps growing and showing its subtle- majestic beauty.

 

Aglaonema

Aglaonem or Chinese evergreen does wonders to your décor with its beautiful leaves and vibrant colours. More importantly, it is a highly tolerant plant to drought and moisture conditions. It prefers bright, indirect sunlight, but they can also thrive in low to medium-light conditions.
