How to calculate stamp duty on property purchase in Lucknow?

To calculate the stamp duty on your property, first arrive at its actual cost by way of multiplying the per sq metre circle rate with the built-up area of the house. So, if the property is spread across 1,000 sq metres and the circle rate in the area where the property is located is Rs 5,000 per sq metre, the worth of the property will be:

1,000 x Rs 5,000 = Rs 50 lakhs

If this property is to be registered in the name of a man, the buyer will be spending 7% of the Rs 50 lakhs, i.e., Rs 3.50 lakhs, as stamp duty and an additional Rs 50,000 as the registration charge. Similarly, if the property were to be registered in the name of a woman, the stamp duty at 6% will amount to Rs 3 lakhs, while the registration charge will be Rs 50,000.
