The Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA), under Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016 has made it mandatory for all projects to be MahaRERA registered.Â
On July 24, 2017, MahaRERA laid down steps for handling information about the projects that ought to be registered but have not registered. If any real estate project is not RERA registered, it can be highlighted to MahaRERA by way of complaints in two ways.Â
Source information
- Check if the project is registered with MahaRERA by searching its details on MahaRERA portal at https://maharera.maharashtra.gov.in/projects-search-result
- If there is no information, then on the MahaRERA portal, under promoters tab, you will see non- registration. Click on Inform Non-Registration.Â

- Â You will be led to another page where you should click on proceed.Â
- You will reach https://maharerait.mahaonline.gov.in/SourceInfo/SourceInfo where you have to fill the form and submit as much details as possible that will help in MahaRERA taking action.Â

Once done, you will be given a SI number through which you can check the status of the complaint. Using this number, in case of any need for detail, you may be contacted.Â
Source complaintÂ
In case the person who complains wants a hearing with the MahaRERA authority, then he has to fill the above form and pay a fee of Rs 5,000 to the regulatory authority. A technical officer will schedule the hearing with appropriate authority. The Notice of Hearing will be sent on the registered email id of the informant and respondent.
After the hearing, the ruling of the MahaRERA will be uploaded on the website and the decision would be updated on the informant’s dashboard as well as on the MahaRERA website for public.
