Maha govt approves construction of Pune-Nashik Industrial Highway

With this 213 km highway, the time to travel between Pune and Nashik will reduce from 5 to 3 hours.

February 13, 2024: The Maharashtra government has approved the construction of the Pune-Nashik Industrial Highway. With this 213 km highway, the time to travel between the two cities will reduce from 5 to 3 hours. The project cost of the Pune-Nashik Highway is expected to be around Rs 20,000 crore.

 

Pune-Nashik Industrial Highway route

The Pune-Nashik Industrial Highway route will pass through Rajgurunagar, Chakan, Manchar and Shirdi. It will be divided into three parts:

  • Pune to Shirdi – covering a distance of 135 km
  • Shirdi interchange to Nashik-Niphad interchange – covering a distance of 60 km (Note that this is part of the Surat-Chennai Expressway)
  • Nashik-Niphad interchange to Nashik- covering a distance of 60 km (Note this is part of the existing Nashik-Niphad State Highway and will be given an upgrade)

The Pune-Nashik Industrial Highway is part of the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation’s (MSRDC) plan to develop a highway network in Maharashtra that will span close to 4,217 km.
