April 23, 2024:Â Â Over 212 projects in Maharashtra have been red flagged by the Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) for not updating their construction status. These projects were launched between January 2023 and April 2023.
Once a project is registered with the MahaRERA, it is imperative for the developer to provide construction status by updating the quarterly project report (QPR) every quarter.
The MahaRERA in a press release said that it was evident that these developers were not taking their projects and regulations seriously. This negligence in fulfilling compliance and commitments towards homebuyers poses a significant risk, it said.
How to check the list?
The MahaRERA has published a district-wise list of such projects on its website. The list can be accessed on https://maharera.maharashtra.
Of the total defaulters, 60 projects were registered in January 2023, 58 in February 2023, 40 in March 2023 and 56 in April 2023. According to the list published on the MahaRERA website, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) and Konkan have the highest number of non-compliant projects at 76. It is followed by Pune with 64 projects, North Maharashtra with 31 projects, Vidarbha with 21 projects and Marathwada with 20 projects.
According to the MahaRERA, of the 2,369 projects registered between January and April 2023, over 886 projects had not submitted the QPR. These developers were issued notices, and given 30 days for rectification.
