MahaRERA seeks project status update from over 16,000 builders

RERA Maharashtra in January 2023, sent show cause notices to 19,500 developers of which around a very small percent have reverted

The MahaRERA has started sending show-cause notices for the second time from April 5, 2023, to 16,000 developers who failed to update project details on its official portal.  The authority had sent the first lot of the show-cause notices in January 2023 to 19,500 developers.

While some developers failed to answer the notice properly, others did not provide complete project information.  Now, developers are granted another 15 days to revert, failing which action will be taken against them that may include severe penalty and cancellation of registration.

Under Section 11 of the RERA Act, developers should update home buyers about project status by updating their details on the MahaRERA portal every 3 months. This should include project related information, including construction status, spending, etc.
