March 6, 2024: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has urged property owners in the city to pay their property taxes. The civic body has also intensified its efforts to exceed last year’s property tax collection figures of Rs 2,417 crore, according to a TOI report. Property tax offices will remain open on all Saturdays and Sundays, except gazetted holidays, until March 31, 2024.
Up to now, the MCD has collected property tax revenue worth Rs 1,811 crore from around 11.5 lakh taxpayers. In 2023, 13.2 lakh taxpayers paid property taxes.
As cited in the report, an MCD official said that the civic body has intensified its efforts to facilitate property taxpayers in filing their taxes, geotagging their properties and registering properties to generate UPIC through meetings and camps. The authority requested people to come forward and avail 2% rebate on online payment of up to Rs 10,000, he said.
He further added that the authority has uploaded videos on MCD’s youtube channel to help the taxpayers.
