MHADA unit size norms altered by state govt

The revised amendments will be applicable for all under-construction and upcoming apartments that will feature under the many MHADA housing scheme.

Maharashtra state government has altered the guidelines with respect to permissible sq ft area constructed and allotted by Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) under Middle Income Group (MIG) and High Income Group (HIG) category. The revised amendments will be applicable for all under-construction and upcoming apartments that will feature under the many MHADA housing scheme. 

As per the new guidelines, the MIG category’s revised carpet area is 968 sq ft from the previous existing 1, 722 sq ft and HIG category’s revised carpet area is now spread across 968 sq ft as opposed to the previous 2,152 sq ft.

Also, as part of the amendment, based on applicant’s income level, MHADA will permit applicants to apply for housing lottery in their category and one level above them.

Additionally, application for HIG segment apartments is now restricted for EWS and LIG categories. Additionally, application for HIG segment apartments is now restricted for EWS and LIG categories.
