MOMA Scholarship is an initiative to promote education among students belonging to the minority communities in India

Education shapes society and gives it forward motion. The importance of education cannot be stressed enough, as it lays the groundwork for future careers and helps one get closer to their goals.

Established by the Ministry of Minority Affairs, MOMA Scholarship is an initiative to promote education among students belonging to the minority communities in India. The scheme is applicable for pre- and post-matriculation and merit-cum-means scholarships for both professional and technical courses. 

Additionally, the Government of India plans to disburse 30 lakh scholarships under the pre-matric scholarship scheme, 5 lakh scholarship awards under the post-matric scholarship scheme, and 60,000 scholarships under merit-plus-means scholarships for graduate or postgraduate courses in technical or professional fields.

MOMA Scholarship: Types of scholarships offered by Ministry of Minority Affairs 2022-23

The Ministry of Minority Affairs (MOMA) is providing four categories of scholarships for the assessment year 2022-23. Academic merit, financial need, and minority reservation will determine the award of these scholarships.

Pre-matric scholarship

Minority students in class 1 to class 10 are eligible to apply for the Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme. The scholarship is intended to assist students with covering tuition and maintenance costs.

Post-matric scholarship

The MOMA Post-Matric Scholarship is a scheme that provides financial assistance to students enrolled in class 11 and class 12 as well as undergraduate and postgraduate courses (technical/ vocational). The scholarship takes care of academic, tuition, and maintenance expenses.

Means-cum-merit scholarship

The Means-cum-Merit Scholarship is available to students who have demonstrated academic excellence and financial need. This scholarship provides tuition and maintenance expenses for the recipient’s studies, making it possible for students. The students pursuing undergraduate, postgraduate, or PhD in professional or technical courses (CS) are eligible to apply.

Begum Hazrat Mahal National Scholarship

Begum Hazrat Mahal National Scholarships are given to female minority students who demonstrate academic excellence and financial need. The scholarship provides financial assistance for the recipient’s education from class 9 to class 12.

 

MOMA Scholarship: Eligibility criteria

The Ministry of Minority Affairs offers an array of pre- and post-matriculation and merit-cum-means scholarships. To be eligible for the MOMA Scholarship, applicants must demonstrate financial need and be enrolled in an accredited school or university. However, the Ministry lays down pre-defined eligibility prerequisites that every applicant needs to meet:

  • In order to qualify, the applicant’s family income should not exceed Rs 1 lakh per year,
  • Applicants must be enrolled in school (Classes 1 to 10) to be considered for the program.
  • The applicant must have attained a minimum aggregate of 50% in his previous examination.
Post-matric scholarship
  • In order to qualify, the applicant’s family income should not exceed Rs 2 lakh per year.
  • The applicant should in currently enrolled in high school (Class 11 and Class 12).
  • Additionally, the applicant must pursue technical/ vocational training courses in NCVT-affiliated ITI and industrial training centres.
Merit-cum-Means Scholarship ( Technical and Professional Courses)
  • In order to qualify, the applicant’s family income should not exceed Rs 2.50 lakh per year.
  • Applicants must be enrolled in postgraduate studies.
  • The applicant must have attained a minimum aggregate of 50% in his previous examination.
Begum Hazrat Mahal National Scholarship
  • The applicant must be currently enrolled in pre-matriculation (Class 9 and Class 10) or high school (Class 11 and Class 12).
  • The applicant must have attained a minimum aggregate of 50% in his previous examination.
  • In order to qualify, the applicant’s family income should not exceed Rs 2 lakh per year.
  • A self-certified community certificate of the applicant if the applicant is the age of 18 and above.

 

MOMA Scholarship: Documents required 

Once you are eligible to apply for the MOMA Scholarship 2022, you must gather some documents for verification. The applicant must scan and upload these documents while filling out the application form. The scholarship provider analyses and scrutinises these documents before taking the application forward.

Pre-matric/ post-matric/ merit-cum-means scholarship

  • A passport-size photograph of the applicant
  • Income certificate or income proof of the family
  • Self-certified community certificate if the applicant is above 18 years of age. If the applicant is below 18 years of age, the community certificate must be attested by the parent/ guardian.
  • Academic mark sheet of the previous qualifying examination attested by the applicant.
  • Aadhaar card as proof of identity of the applicant
  • Fee receipt of the current academic year
  • Bank account details 
  • Residential or domicile certificate

Begum Hazrat Mahal National Scholarship

  • A copy of the parent or guardian’s income statement is issued by an authorised state/UT administration institution.
  • A copy of the Aadhaar enrollment ID
  • For applicants over 18, a self-validated community certificate must be presented. For applicants under the age of 18, parents/ guardians must certify the community certificate.
  • Bank passbook, PAN card, driving licence, or ration card of the applicant 
  • A school-issued certificate of identity featuring a photo of the applicant authorised by the school’s headmaster or principal.

Note: If the scholarship amount exceeds Rs 50,000, the applicant must upload the documents on the online portal. However, hard copies of the documents must be presented to their current institution.

 

MOMA Scholarship: How to apply?

Applications for MOMA Scholarship 2022 are now open. To apply, follow the steps outlined below for a clear understanding of the application process:

Step 1: Navigate to the official portal of the National Scholarship Portal.

Step 2: Under the ‘Applicant Corner, ’ select ‘New Registration’ if you are a new applicant on the portal. However, if you have already registered, click on ‘Fresh Application.’

Step 3: Accept the terms and conditions of the undertaking, and click on ‘Continue’

Step 4: Your browser will be redirected to the registration form. To register, fill out the form with all the required information and click the ‘Register’ button.

Step 5: Once you have registered, you can select the scholarship you want to apply for and fill out the application form carefully.

Step 6: Next, upload the scanned documents and pay the application fee.

Step 7: Click on ‘Submit’.

 

MOMA Scholarship: How to apply for renewal of MOMA scholarship 2022?

The MOMA Scholarship is renewable as long as the student demonstrates financial need for education. The renewal process is simple to make the application process swift:

Step 1: Navigate to the official website of the National Scholarship Portal.

Step 2: Under the ‘Applicant Corner’, select ‘Renew Application’.

Step 3: Log in to the dashboard by entering your credentials and captcha code.

Step 4: Once you log in, fill in all the required information along with the documents and enter the OTP.

Step 5: Review your Application and submit it for renewal.

 

MOMA scholarship 2022 allowance scheme

The MOMA Scholarship scheme for the assessment year 2022-23 is structured to allow a lump sum maintenance amount annually for the entire course duration. The maintenance allowance is tabulated below for a detailed understanding:
