MP govt to construct Vindhya Expressway from Bhopal to Singrauli

Industrial clusters will also be developed along the proposed expressway.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced the construction of the Vindhya Expressway that will connect Bhopal and Singrauli on February 15, 2023. The expressway will connect the two cities which are around 660 kms apart through Damoh, Katni, Rewa and Sidhi.

The CM made the announcement while laying the foundation stones for the construction of an airport at the cost of Rs 240 crore in Rewa and other development works. Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia was also present at the occasion.

The government will also develop industrial clusters along the proposed expressway to create jobs for youth in this region. At the Global Investors Summit (GIS) in Indore that was held recently, the government received investment proposals to the tune of Rs 2.88 lakh crore for the Vindhya region, the second-highest after the Malwa region. This will create new jobs for around 1.5 lakh people from the region.
