Mumbai Police verification: Importance, online and offline procedure, and other details

If a landlord does not conduct a police check on prospective tenants and there is a danger of obstruction or harm to any person, the landlord faces a fine of up to Rs 200 or up to one month in jail, or both.

Landlords are required to verify tenants as part of the tenancy agreement procedure. This enhances the property’s security and the well-being of those involved, including neighbours. Verifying a tenant’s police record online is a breeze with the help of the Mumbai Police Department’s official website. Offline options are available as well for Mumbai Police verification.
