National Highway 39 connects Jhansi in Madhya Pradesh at its west end to Jharkhand’s capital Ranchi at the east end. On the way, it also touches the southern region of Uttar Pradesh, thereby establishing an inter-state link among three major states of North-Central India.
In its stretch of almost 870 km, NH 39 links several places in the three states. Starting from Jhansi in Madhya Pradesh, this highway passes through the towns of Chhatarpur, Panna, Satna, Rewa, Sidhi and Singrauli in this state. Before entering Jharkhand, NH 39 touches the Southern region of Uttar Pradesh at Renukut and Shaktinagar in the Sonabhadra district.
This highway enters Jharkhand from Garhwa, further passing through places like Latehar, Chanho, Mandar and Ratu before terminating at Ranchi. NH 39 also forms junctions with several other national highways in this state.
