January 2, 2024: Public sector construction company NBCC has been engaged by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC) for the construction of staff quarter residential building for the Bhubaneswar Metro Rail project, according to an official statement. NBCC has been appointed as a Project Management Consultant (PMC) and the total cost of the work is Rs. 88.90 crore.
Earlier in 2023, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between DMRC and NBCC to work together in the field of infrastructure development in India and abroad.
NBCC (India) Limited is a Navratna Enterprise under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. The company is listed with National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) since 2012.
The Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Corporation (BMRC), a fully owned entity of the Odisha government, on November 20, 2023, signed an MoU with the DMRC for the Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Project Phase-1 to link the city with Cuttack over the next four years.

Bhubaneswar Metro is a rapid transit system to be developed at cost around Rs 5,929.38 crore. The Odisha Cabinet on November 14, 2023, approved the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Bhubaneswar metro rail project phase–1 from Bhubaneswar Airport to Cuttack’s Trisulia Square.
