The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has initiated work on upgrading the service roads on both sides of NH-48 (Delhi-Jaipur national highway) after completing the overlay of the main carriageway from Gurgaon to Haryana border. The authority has taken up the work of overlaying the service roads from the Dharuhera flyover to the Masani bridge, as this section is the worst affected near Rewari. Both sides of this 10-km stretch will be fully re-laid.Â
The highway stretch from Kherki Daula to Haryana border is 64 km in length and the highway authority has completely overlaid the main carriageway. According to a Hindustan Times report, the entire road including the service lanes are being overlaid at a cost of Rs 225 crore. As per the report, the NHAI officials said that once the work on the Masani-Dharuhera stretch is done, the authority will take up the road from Dharuhera towards Delhi side, which is around 4-km-long. This stretch of the road is badly damaged due to the accumulation of waste water generated by the Bhiwadi industrial area.Â
