Nitin Gadkari inaugurates eight National Highway projects in Madhya Pradesh

With a total length of 214 km, the National Highway projects will be developed at the cost of Rs. 4,054 crore.

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari laid the foundation stone of eight National Highway projects in Madhya Pradesh on November 7, 2022. The projects will be developed at the cost of Rs. 4,054 crore and will have a total length of 214 km, as per an official release.

The projects were inaugurated in the presence of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister of State Prahlad Singh Patel, State Minister Shri Gopal Bhargava, and other officials.

The 53 kilometre from Hiran river to Singur river and 12 kilometre four-lane construction of Nauradehi Wild Life Sanctuary will save two hours of travel time from Jabalpur to Bhopal, the highways minister said during the event.

He added that farmers of Narsinghpur, the largest producer of sugarcane and pulses, will be able to take their grains to the mandis of Malwa and the Central region. Further, the development of 23 underpasses and five minor bridges is underway for the convenience and safety of animals in the wildlife sanctuary.

The foundation stone of the 112-km, four-lane Jabalpur Ring Road was laid worth Rs 3,600 crore under the Bharatmala project. This ring road will be developed on the Barela-Malegaon-Shahpura Bhatauni-Kushner-Amjhar-Barela road. The route will also comprise a bridge over the Narmada river, the 750-meter Iconic Bridge and ROB at Bhedaghat and ROB at Deori.

The union road and highways minister also inaugurated five National Highway projects worth Rs 1,261 crore and a total length of 329 km in Madhya Pradesh’s Mandla. “With the construction of these road projects, this area and its forest dwellers will get better facilities. These projects will well connect Mandla with Jabalpur, Dindori, Balaghat districts,” Gadkari said.

He further said that travel to religious places such as Pachmarhi, Amarkantak and Bhedaghat as well as traffic movement from Jabalpur through Amarkantak to Bilaspur, Raipur and Durg, will become easy due to the construction of these routes. Transportation of agricultural and industrial products from neighbouring regions will be facilitated, saving time and fuel.

The union minister also unveiled national highway projects of 214 km worth Rs 4,054 crore at the Veterinary College Ground in Jabalpur. In September 2022, Gadkari laid the foundation stone of seven National Highway projects worth Rs 1,128 crore and covering 222 km in Madhya Pradesh.
