NMRC approves sector 142 to Botanical Garden Metro Section

According to Dr Lokesh M, the estimated cost of the project is Rs 2,254.35 crore.

January 3, 2024: The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC), in its 38th board meeting held on December 27, 2023, gave approval for the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed Section-142 to Botanical Garden Metro Section, according to media reports. The development of this 11.56-kilometre section aims to provide direct connectivity to the Delhi Airport Terminal 1 through the Delhi Metro’s Magenta Line.

The board meeting was chaired by Jaideep, Officer on Special Duty (UT) & ex-officio Joint Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. The DPR for the new route was prepared by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) in November 2023 and subsequently presented to the NMRC, Noida Authority and Greater Noida Authority. The proposal received official approval after thorough discussions.

As cited in an Indian Express report, NMRC managing director Dr Lokesh M said that the DPR will be sent to the Uttar Pradesh government and the Central government for final approval. According to Dr Lokesh M, the estimated cost of the project is Rs 2,254.35 crore. The Section-142 to Botanical Garden Metro Section will comprise eight stations:

  •         Botanical Garden
  •         Noida Sector 44
  •         Noida Office
  •         Noida Sector 97
  •         Noida Sector 105
  •         Noida Sector 108
  •         Noida Sector 93
  •         Panchsheel Balak Inter College

Dr Lokesh M highlighted the project’s significance in offering direct connectivity for those travelling between Delhi and Noida-Greater Noida. The section is expected to cater to around 80,000 passengers daily. The residents of Sector 44, 45, 97, 99, 100, 104, 105, 108 and 93 will benefit from this section. He further added that the new line will offer connectivity to Indian Railways stations, such as New Delhi and Anand Vihar, along with inter-city and intra-city bus stations.

The Botanical Garden Metro Station is an interchange station located on Delhi Metro’s Blue Line and Magenta Line while the Noida Sector-142 metro station is situated on the Aqua Line.
