Oasis scholarship: What is it? 

The Oasis scholarship was introduced by the Department of Tribal Development and the Backward Classes Welfare Department of West Bengal in 2022 for students from the SC/ST and OBC categories to pursue their education. This scholarship is targeted towards West Bengal domicile students from SC/ST and OBC categories that want to pursue higher education from Class IX to the postgraduate level. 

The scholarship awards up to Rs 1,200 to all those students who meet its eligibility criteria. Moreover, the students can also access other scholarships for minorities, merit students and others provided by the Government of West Bengal. Oasis scholarship: Eligibility criteria

The eligibility criteria for the Pre-Matric Oasis scholarship are as the following:

1. The candidate should belong to the SC/ST category and be a domicile in West Bengal.
2. The candidates can be students of Class IX and X.
3. The candidate should not have a family income exceeding Rs 2,00,000 per annum. 
4. The eligibility criteria for the Post-Matric Oasis scholarship are as the following:
5. The candidate should belong to the SC/ST or OBC category and be a domicile in West Bengal.
6. The candidates can be students of Class XI to the postgraduate level.
7. The candidate belonging to SC/ST category should not have a family income exceeding Rs 2,50,000 per annum. 
8. The candidate belonging to the OBC category should not have a family income exceeding Rs 1,00,000 per annum.

Oasis scholarship: What are the documents required for applying for an Oasis scholarship?

For verification purposes, the following documents will be required for applying to the Oasis scholarship:

1. 4 passport size photographs of the candidate.
2. Caste certificate of the candidate.
3. Birth certificate of the candidate.
4. Original copy of the previously qualified examination mark sheet.
5. Copy of government identification with the candidate’s photograph and address proof, such as the Aadhar card.
6. Authority-issued income certificate of the candidate’s family.
7. A copy of the candidate’s bank passbook containing the bank’s name, branch, IFSC code, account number and beneficiary’s name.
8. Domicile certificate of the candidate.
9. Fee receipts of the candidate.

Oasis scholarship: How to apply?

To apply for the Oasis scholarship for the first time, the candidate will have to follow these steps:

1. Visit the official West Bengal Oasis scholarship portal and click on the student registration tab.
2. Next, choose your location in West Bengal.
3. Next, fill in the Oasis student scholarship details and click the submit button after thorough revisions.
4. Remember to save the Oasis login scholarship credentials and not share the details with any third persons.
5. After obtaining the user ID and Password, the candidate can download the login credentials by clicking the ‘download login information/acknowledgement slip’ tab.
6. To log in to the official WB Oasis scholarship portal, click on the ‘registered student’s login’ tab.
7. Visit the official Oasis scholarship portal, where the candidate’s registered location will appear in the Oasis scholarship login window.
8. After logging in using your User ID and Password, click on the ‘apply’ option.
9. Now, you can view the West Bengal Oasis scholarship form and fill in the details, provide your required bank information and click on ‘save and proceed’.
10. Double-check the information provided and click on the ‘verify and lock’ button as you will not be able to modify the Oasis scholarship application form after clicking on ‘verify and lock’.
11. After locking the information, print out the Oasis scholarship online form by clicking the download application form button.
12. Attach the copies of supporting documents to the Oasis scholarship form and submit it to the concerned Block Development Officer (BDO) for the block area or PO cum DWO for the municipality corporation.

Oasis scholarship: How to check the status of your Oasis scholarship?

To access the Oasis scholarship track status feature, you will have to follow these steps:

1. Visit the Oasis scholarship portal.
2. Now, click on the ‘track an application’ button to know the Oasis scholarship status check.
3. Next, fill in the details such as user ID, the applied district, academic year and CAPTCHA.
4. Click on the ‘check status’ button.
5. Now you can view the current status of your Oasis scholarship application.
