Over 11,000 flats across embattled Amrapali Group’s various housing projects will be delivered within two to three months, the Supreme Court was informed on September 23, 2022. Of this over 5,000 units are likely to be delivered by October-end.
“We are facing some issues in providing electricity and water connections to the other 6,430 completed flats and once the connections are provided and they receive completion certificates, these units will be handed over to the home buyers in the next two to three months,” court receiver senior advocate R Venkataramani told the A bench of Chief Justice UU Lalit and Justice Bela M Trivedi.
The flats, which have been completed by state-run NBCC, will be handed over to buyers after full payment for the units, the apex court said.
A forensic audit has found that 1,970 buyers have defaulted on their payments and have failed to clear dues despite several notices. Their flats will be sold through an auction, the top court was informed.
The top court also extended the bail granted to former Amrapali bosses Anil Sharma and Shiv Priya on medical backgrounds.
In July, the SC reiterated that Amrapali buyers were its top priority and interests of all other creditors will be taken care of only after units are delivered to buyers who have been waiting for years for their homes.
Recall here that NBCC is entrusted with the task of completing over 38,000 stuck housing units in various Amrapali housing projects in the NCR.
