September 25, 2023: Prime minister Narendra Modi on September 24 unveiled nine new Vande Bharat Express trains, positioning them as the “symbols of new India’s enthusiasm”. These Vande Bharat trains, featuring state-of-the-art amenities, will enhance connectivity across 11 Indian states, setting new standards for rail travel in the country.
These trains include connections like the Udaipur-Jaipur and Hyderabad-Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express, among others, promising a more comfortable and modern travel experience for commuters. With these additions, the fleet of Vande Bharat trains serving citizens has grown to 34, with Modi expressing optimism about the train service expanding to connect every corner of India in the near future.
Highlighting the rapid pace of infrastructure growth, the PM said, “The speed and scale of infrastructure development in the country is exactly matching the aspirations of 140 crore Indians.” He further emphasised the trains’ role in stimulating tourism and, consequently, economic activities in connected regions.
Closing his remarks, PM Modi confidently stated, “The changes taking place at every level in Indian Railways and society will prove to be an important step towards a developed India.”
