PM Modi launches infra projects worth Rs 56,000 cr in Telangana

PM Modi launched over 30 development projects spanning power, rail and road sectors.

March 5, 2024: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 4, 2024, inaugurated, dedicated to the nation and laid the foundation stone of over 30 developmental projects related to power, rail and road sectors worth more than Rs 56,000 crore in Telangana. The official ceremony, held in Adilabad, Telangana, was graced by the presence of state governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, chief minister A Revanth Reddy, and other distinguished guests.

Among the significant projects unveiled, Prime Minister Modi dedicated NTPC’s 800 MW (Unit-2) of Telangana Super Thermal Power Project in Peddapalli, distinguished for its utilisation of ultra-supercritical technology, boasting the highest power generation efficiency of approximately 42% among all NTPC power stations in India. Additionally, he inaugurated the 660 MW (Unit-2) of North Karanpura Super Thermal Power Project in Chatra, Jharkhand, noted as the nation’s pioneering Supercritical Thermal Power Project featuring an Air Cooled Condenser (ACC), which significantly curtails water consumption.

Further, the Prime Minister inaugurated a slew of other projects, including the Fly Ash Based Lightweight Aggregate Plant in Chhattisgarh and the STP Water to Green Hydrogen Plant in Uttar Pradesh. He also laid the foundation stone for various projects across different states, signifying a concerted effort towards bolstering infrastructure and fostering sustainable development.

In the realm of power generation, he inaugurated notable projects such as the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation’s (NHPC’s) 380 MW Solar Project in Rajasthan and Bundelkhand Saur Urja Limited’s (BSUL’s) 1200 MW Jalaun Ultra Mega Renewable Energy Power Park in Uttar Pradesh. Additionally, several solar power initiatives in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Assam were either inaugurated or had their foundation stones laid.

The Prime Minister also kickstarted the ReNew’s Koppal-Narendra Transmission Scheme in Karnataka, aimed at facilitating the evacuation of 2500 MW power from Renewable Energy sources, further consolidating India’s strides towards sustainable energy infrastructure. Furthermore, in the transportation sector, he dedicated the electrified Ambari – Adilabad – Pimpalkhuti rail line and laid the foundation for two major National Highway projects, thus enhancing connectivity and accessibility between Telangana, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh.
