July 27, 2023: Prime minister Narendra Modi today released the 14th instalment amount of about Rs 17,000 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM Kisan) to more than 8.5 crore beneficiaries during an event organised in Sikar, Rajasthan. The prime minister also dedicated to the nation more than 1.25 lakh PM Kisan Samriddhi Kendras (PMKSKs) during the event.
The prime minister said that the PM Kisan was the largest scheme in the world under which funds were directly transferred into the bank accounts of farmers. He said that more than Rs 2.60 lakh crore were directly transferred to the bank accounts of farmers so far. This was beneficial to the farmers in covering various expenses, Modi said.
Launched on February 24, 2019, to supplement the financial needs of all land-holding farmers, subject to certain exclusion criteria of higher income status, the scheme provides financial benefit of Rs 6,000 per year in three equal instalments. These instalments are thus credited directly into the bank accounts of the farmers every four months.
