Post Matric Scholarship: Benefits

  • The post-matric scholarship is an effort by the Indian government to encourage students from low-income households who belong to minority groups or communities to continue their education.
  • The students have the option of attending public or private upper secondary schools or colleges, enrolling in any technical or vocational programme at one of India’s ITIs, or doing polytechnic courses.
  • The state or federal governments must properly accredit and recognise the institutions, and the students who wish to apply for the scholarship must meet the requirements.
  • Additionally, students should be aware that certificate programmes and other programmes with a length of less than a year are not eligible for the award.

Post Matric Scholarship: Things to keep in mind

  • The Post Matric Scholarship will cover classes 11 and 12, as well as technical and vocational studies at ITIs and Polytechnics.
  • Additionally, the government will provide female students with 30% of the scholarships. In addition, if there are insufficient qualified lady students, the post-matric scholarships will be given to eligible boy students.
  • The Post Matric Scholarship is not available to students who are currently recipients of another scholarship from the federal government.
  • The component official body must issue the pupils with an income certificate.
  • There aren’t many post-matriculation scholarships available for minorities. The economically disadvantaged group will be given more weight throughout the selection process than the test scores.
  • Students who are 18 years old must have a community certificate that they self-certified.
  • The government will use Direct Benefit Transfer to transfer the students’ maintenance allowance and tuition fees (DBT).
  • Only two students from a single household may get Post Matric scholarship advantages.
  • The official body has the right, at any moment, to amend the rules.
  • The programme will be periodically evaluated by the Ministry of Minority Affairs.
  • Renewal applicants are not permitted to transfer their pupils between schools or institutions while they are enrolled in an academic programme.
