What information is found on a provisional certificate?

Your provisional degree includes your name, the name of the course you have completed, your division, and the name of the university.

Provisional certificate: Objective

Generally, educational documents are required to pursue higher education and apply for employment. In addition, we use provisional certificates until we receive our degree certificates upon graduation; there are no other reasons to obtain them.

On the basis of a provisional certificate, it is possible to obtain employment in one’s own country. To study or work in a foreign country, you must have a degree certificate with an attestation. A provisional certificate demonstrates to the authorities that you are qualified to receive the requested service in your native country.

Provisional certificate: Types

Completing your high school education and enrolling in college are the first two key steps in constructing a profession based on your degree.

  • Provisional certificate for Grade 12

This certification is required at all stages of your career. It is required for enrollment in an undergraduate program. Every university requires a provisional 12th-grade diploma provided by the State Government, CBSE, or ISC.

  • University Provisional Diploma

It is as important as your 12th-grade provisional diploma for future education and employment options.

Provisional certificate: SOL

Formerly known as the School of Correspondence Courses and Continuing Education, this open university is currently known as the School of Open Learning. At the UG level, SOL provides BA, BA (Hons.), and B.Com (Hons.). Similarly, M.Com and MA are postgraduate degrees. The SOL students receive their provisional certificates following the final semester.

Provisional certificate vs degree certificate

Both degree and provisional certificates indicate that a student has passed the graduation exams. The University issues a provisional certificate for students to use for future opportunities in lieu of the original degree.

Students utilise this certificate till they receive their actual degree. This credential aids students in their pursuit of employment or further study. This certificate is issued to students by universities such as the University of Allahabad, the University of Delhi, and the University of Hyderabad.

Are the CBSE Board provisional certificates and passing certificates the same?

Students who pass the CBSE 12th board exams receive a certificate of completion. In contrast, a provisional certificate is known as a temporary certificate until the original certificate is issued.

A certificate of passing is a document issued by the CBSE Board. A temporary certificate, on the other hand, is an educational document issued by your institution. Students who passed their 12th-grade board examinations but have not yet received their passing certificates are granted a provisional certificate.

Provisional certificate: How can I acquire a provisional certificate?

Colleges and universities may issue students an interim diploma upon request. Depending on the institution, it can be obtained either online, in person, or both. Inquire if your university offers provisional certificates online or in person, and if it does, follow the instructions below.

For online access

If your institution or university issues provisional certificates online, you can navigate to the option to apply for a provisional certificate on its official website. Complete all needed fields and, if applicable, complete the payment. It is likely that you will receive an online certificate that you can print if necessary. Although an electronic provisional certificate is just as legitimate as a physical one, you may always get a physical copy by visiting your university.

For offline access

If your institution or university offers provisional certificates offline, you may need to submit an application letter to the Dean or Head of Department. Include your name, department, roll number, course name, and year of degree completion in your application letter. Provide an explanation for your provisional certificate request. After supplying the information and completing your university’s application process, you can expect to obtain your certificate.

Provisional certificate: Validity

  • According to the nature of the provisional certificate, it can be used until you receive your degree from your university. It has no expiration date and can be used in your native country for additional study or employment prospects.
  • However, it cannot be used to enroll in an international university. Foreign educational or employment objectives typically necessitate the attestation of your original degree by government agencies such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Human Resources and Development, and foreign diplomatic missions.
  • In short, a provisional certificate may be used in your country. However, an original degree is essential for studying and working abroad.
