Pune Ring Road: Landowners to get compensation of Rs 3.7 crore per hectare

The authority will pay Rs 2,348.92 crore to acquire 618.8 hectare of land covering 32 villages in this phase.

Pune landowners will receive an average compensation of Rs 3.7 crore per hectare as finalised by Pune District Collectorate for the 316.8-hectare land to be acquired by Maharashtra government for the Pune Ring Road project’s western alignment.

The Pune District Collector Rajesh Deshmukh said that as land rates have been finalised, authorities will initiate the processing of payments to landowners and take possession of the land. He added that compensation rates vary based on attributes of the land parcel. The authority will pay Rs 2,348.92 crore to acquire 618.8 hectare of land covering 32 villages in this phase. Moreover, the next step will be the declaration of awards, release of agreed-upon payments to the landowners and taking possession of the land. He also added that the authority plans to complete the process in the next two months.

The 173-km-long Pune Ring Road has been conceptualised to ease traffic and boost connectivity in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad. It will be developed in two phases – the Pune (West) Ring Road and Pune (East) Ring Road – by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC). The project is likely to be completed by December 2025.
