August 25, 2023: The Kerala Real Estate Regulatory Authority (Kerala RERA) has introduced a Quick Response code (QR code) for each Kerala RERA project. From September 1, 2023, promoters must display a QR code on every project promotion and advertisement, to help homebuyers get information about projects easily.
The QR code of each project registered under Kerala RERA will be available for download in the promoter’s dashboard on the website, next to the certificate download section. The regulatory authority has mandated that the QR code must be published in a way that is legible and detectable with software application. It must be published next to the Kerala RERA registration number and website address.
Currently, the advertisement and prospectus issued by the promoter must prominently specify the Kerala RERA website address and include details of registered projects and the registration number obtained from the authority.

The latest order issued by the authority is applicable to all advertisements, including those issued in newspapers, journals, magazines, printed flyers, brochures, catalogues, social media ads, websites, ads on project sites and sales offices, etc., where QR codes can be published.
According to Section 3 (1) of the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016, promoters must register projects with the Real Estate Regulatory Authority before advertising or marketing plots, apartments or buildings in any project.
