Actor R Madhavan, whose full name is Ranganathan Madhavan, is also a writer, director and producer and has bagged several awards for his noteworthy performances in Hindi and Tamil movies. Having started his career with television serials, Madhavan garnered huge fan following with successful films such as Rang De Basanti, 3 Idiots, Tanu Weds Manu and many others. His last movie Rocketry: The Nambi Effect won the National Award for the Best Film. R Madhavan received another feather in his cap after he was appointed as the president of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) Society and chairperson of the governing council on September 1, 2023.

Born in a Tamil Brahmin family at Jamshedpur, Bihar, Madhavan now lives in Mumbai with his family, including his parents Saroja and Ranganathan, wife Sarita Birje, son Vedaant and their pet dogs and pet bird Ashley.
