August 25, 2023: Reliance Industries in collaboration with The Oberoi Hotels and Resorts will co-manage three iconic hospitality projects across India and the UK, news agency Reuters reported. These include the upcoming Anant Vilas Hotel in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), the iconic Stoke Park in the UK and another planned project in Gujarat. Any financial details of the arrangement were not disclosed by either company, the report added.
Anant Vilas has been conceived as the first metro-centric property as part of the iconic luxury ‘Vilas’ portfolio run by Oberoi, the report quoted Reliance Industries as saying. Stoke Park, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries, owns sports and leisure facilities in Stoke Poges, Buckinghamshire. The facilities include a hotel, sports facilities and one of the highest rated golf courses in Europe. Oberoi will assist in upgrading the facilities in Stoke Park to improve the guest experience.
Reliance holds nearly 19% of the Oberoi group firm EIH. This stake is held via Reliance Strategic Business Ventures. It had first bought 14.12% in EIH in 2010. Moreover, Reliance Industries last year paid nearly $100 million for a controlling stake in Mandarin Oriental New York, a five-star hotel in midtown Manhattan, through the purchase of its Cayman Islands-based parent.
