July 16, 2024: Plot owners in Sector 145 of Noida held a protest on July 14, 2024, voicing their frustration over the local authority’s prolonged delay in delivering physical possession of their residential plots and developing the sector. Organised by the Resident Welfare Association (RWA) of Sector 145, the three-hour protest saw participation from senior citizens, men, women and children, all displaying banners and posters outlining their grievances.
The RWA cited the lack of a clear timeline from the local authority and district administration for handing over physical possession of the plots as the reason for the protest. Approximately 2,250 plots, acquired under the 5% compensation scheme for farmers in lieu of agricultural land, have been affected by this delay. This delay has impacted an estimated 15,000 individuals who have awaited possession since completing their registries nearly eight years ago.
During the protest, demonstrators demanded immediate action and urged authorities to provide a definitive timeline for the sector’s development and plot handovers. In a further effort to escalate the matter, the RWA of Sector 145 also sent a letter to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s office, emphasizing the urgency of resolving the issue promptly.
