The Rewa Airport in Madhya Pradesh is under construction. It is part of the central government’s Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS)-Ude Desh Ka Aam Naagrik (UDAN). Under this scheme, unserved air routes in underserved regions of the country will be improved to fulfil the aspirations of common man. With the UDAN program, 59 airports, five helipads and two aerodromes would be connected to 359 routes.

Rewa Airport: Opening date
Located in Chorhata, the under-construction Rewa Airport is around 11 km from the city center. While it is currently being used by the government, VIP, private aircraft, and helicopters; it is expected to open to the public by 2025.
Owned by the Airports Authority of India (AAI), the runway of the airport is being extended and a new passenger terminal is being constructed. The area of the under-construction terminal building will be around 750 sqm. The project cost of this extension is around Rs 300 Crore.
Rewa Airport: Connectivity
Once operational, the Rewa Airport will provide easy connectivity to cities, such as Bhopal, Gwalior, Indore, and Jabalpur with flights from Air India and Indigo Airlines.

Rewa Airport: Construction status
The AAI is responsible for developing Rewa Airport. Presently, the airport is being constructed on around 62 acre, and another 290 acre will be acquired for further development. Of the 290 acre, 137 acre will be used for the Visual Flight Rules (VFR) operations and close to 153 acre will be for Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) operations. Presently, a proposal to acquire around 246 acre of private land has been approved by the government, which will be compensated with around Rs 206 Crore.
Rewa Airport expansion: Foundation stone
The foundation stone for the airport was laid by Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chauhan on February 15, 2023. The airport is expected to boost the economy of Rewa and provide employment. It is also expected to boost tourism in Rewa, known for white tigers.
